The Standard Bank API Marketplace faced several challenges that hindered user adoption and engagement. Firstly, users were often confused by the public web experience, leading to difficulties in navigating the platform and understanding its value proposition. This confusion resulted in reduced take-up and increased drop-off rates. Additionally, there were significant breakages in user registration journeys, causing frustration and delays. Customers also reported issues with registration emails being flagged as junk mail, leading to uncertainty about their registration status.
The Problem
Standard Bank's OneHub platform is an innovative online marketplace that provides corporate clients with access to a wide range of digital solutions. As part of Standard Bank Group's future-ready strategy, OneHub serves as a centralized platform, offering a simplified pathway for businesses to discover and implement cutting-edge digital solutions. The platform encompasses web applications and application programming interfaces (APIs), enabling corporate clients to enhance efficiencies and streamline their processes effectively.

Our Approach
To tackle the challenges faced by Standard Bank and create an exceptional user experience for corporate clients, our team adopted a comprehensive and user-centric approach. We began by conducting in-depth research, including interviews and workshops with stakeholders, to gain a deep understanding of the pain points and requirements of both Standard Bank and their corporate clients. This research provided valuable insights into the existing digital landscape and informed our design decisions.
Following the research phase, we focused on creating a platform that would offer a seamless and intuitive user experience. We worked closely with Standard Bank's team to define the user flows, information architecture, and visual design elements of the OneHub platform. Our goal was to ensure that corporate clients could easily navigate the platform, discover relevant digital solutions, and leverage them to enhance their operational efficiency.

The results
Through our strategic interventions, we achieved significant results in enhancing the Standard Bank API Marketplace. Firstly, we successfully managed user expectations by providing clear and concise information about the platform's offerings, ensuring users had a better understanding of what to expect. Secondly, we addressed issues related to the layout and information hierarchy, implementing corrections that improved the overall organization and accessibility of information. By introducing universal UX patterns and streamlining user journeys, we optimized the platform's usability, making it easier and more intuitive for users to navigate and accomplish their goals. Furthermore, we implemented improved error-handling mechanisms, which helped users overcome obstacles more effectively and reduced frustration. Additionally, we enhanced the visual experience by ensuring that images better reflected the relevant solutions, increasing user comprehension and engagement. Lastly, we ensured consistency in writing styles throughout the platform, providing a cohesive and seamless user experience. As a result of these efforts, the Standard Bank API Marketplace experienced improved user satisfaction, increased engagement, and a more efficient and enjoyable user journey.
